Weytk. Welcome.

I’m Cheryl Matthew — a storyteller walking between worlds.

I’m a member of Simpcw First Nation and a proud Secwépemc woman — a scholar, author, policy leader, and ceremonial guide. My work lives at the meeting place of land, ceremony, and research, weaving together story, sovereignty, and spiritual healing.

I’ve worked in Indigenous communities my whole life — born into them, and professionally for more than 25 years across Indigenous governments, the non-profit sector, the federal government, academia, and consulting. Along the way I kept being asked the same questions: What is reconciliation? How do we decolonize? What can I do to help? After many conversations over coffee, I decided to share them more widely.

Ancestral wisdom, modern activism

My work bridges the wisdom of our ancestors with the questions of today — through story, research, and land-based healing. I write for anyone willing to listen, learn, ask questions, and engage with an open mind. My hope is simple: that we leave every conversation in a better place than where we began.
